The "Forgotten Country".
In 1860 a gold rush was evident along sections of the
Upper Clarence Rv. A considerable alluvial deposit of
gold uncovered, along with a reef deposit near the
Washpool Creek. This area is steeped in visual
reminders of an era gone by. Natures beauty is also
self evident. I have an intimate knowledge of the
workings & history here. Miners were of
Australian Chinese & Italian origin.
Discover the ghost towns of Lionsville & Solferino.
Walk to the "Crystal Mine". Or simply "pan for gold".
Camp on the banks of the idyllic Washpool Creek.

**Prospecting: Sapphires.
Recent find of Sapphire & Garnet....
West of Mullumbimby in the New England Range, are the remains of an ancient
volcano. From this massive eruption of eons ago, come the sought after
sapphires. Sapphires from this area are considered to be the
best "Blues" in the world.
My "Prospect" in this area is "closely guarded", but if you love
camping in wild places with the possibility of finding a
"brilliant ice blue" then I am your willing guide & host!
